Froth flotation is a widely used process in the mining industry for separating valuable minerals from gangue minerals.It relies on the differences in surface properties of minerals,where the valuable minerals are hydrophobic and the gangue minerals are hydrophilic.In this process,the ore is ground and mixed with water to form a slurry.Collectors are then added to selectively coat the valuable minerals,making them attach to air bubbles.These air bubbles rise to the surface and form a froth,which is collected and further processed to obtain the desired mineral concentrate.Froth flotation is also used in wastewater treatment and the recycling industry for separating and recovering valuable materials from waste streams.
